Our Story

Karen and child Ren
Karen and child Ren

When our family became healthier, people wanted to know what we were doing at the Hubacek household to lose weight… I decided to open the clinic so that we could teach serious people that wanted to learn...

From Meal replacements to counting points and everywhere in between, you name it, and I’ve tried it!  In 2009, it seemed my seven year old child, Ren, was doomed to struggle with the weight too.  Ren was on a year-round swim team, soccer team, basketball team, took ballet and gymnastics but still weighed over 100lbs going into the 2nd grade.  And believe me, we quit buying sodas, candy, or anything that “caused cavities” after our four children had an $1100 dental bill a few years earlier.  We were doing exactly what the doctors said we should do to “lose weight,” but it didn’t work.

When my blood sugar rose over 100, I looked at my family members plagued with diabetes on my mom’s side, and went searching for answers.  I wanted to leave a better legacy for Ren.  I had been “counting points” and starving myself on 800-1000 calories a day for over a year; walking an hour every morning, and just could not shed the weight I gained after having our fourth child.  I knew there had to be something “wrong with me”.  I could not lose weight, felt tired all the time and stayed hungry.

My husband, Jeff, a board-certified physician in family medicine and emergency medicine at that time, had no answers or suggestions.  They do not teach nutrition in medical school. He was 50lbs overweight himself!  My search found the Obesity Medical Association and I registered us both for the upcoming conference.  Surely someone there could point me in the right direction!  At the conference, I met a friend who gave me the DVDs for all the conferences going back to 2007.  Everything I was learning was in stark contrast to everything I was doing to obtain a healthy weight.  Seriously, almost everything I was eating was breaking down into glucose and I was storing it as body fat within an hour of eating it!

In the ten years of conferences that I have either attended or watched, the weight-loss specialists do not argue about why so many people are overweight; they all know why the “obesity epidemic” is out of control.  Over 90% of overweight people have a disease called insulin resistance.  We make too much insulin.  We store carbohydrates as body fat almost as soon as it breaks down into glucose.  Without significant dietary changes, insulin resistance can develop into type 2 diabetes.

There is no cure for insulin resistance, but it is controllable and I was able to get my glucose back to normal and lose the weight.  Ren was able to get to a healthy weight too.  At 15 years old Ren is 5’7” and about 135 lbs.  But more importantly, that’s about 22% body fat.  Ren is a lean, mean, goal-keeping machine!

When our family became healthier, people wanted to know what we were doing at the Hubacek household to lose weight and would write out menu plans for them.  In 2010, I decided to open the clinic so that we could teach serious people that wanted to learn about insulin resistance and how to fight it.   We fight insulin resistance with a low carb and keto-friendly lifestyle.  We have seen hundreds of people not only obtain and maintain a healthy weight, but we’ve also seen them get off blood pressure medicines, insulin, cholesterol medicine and even antidepressants.  We celebrate these accomplishments with them.

Learn About How Our Program Works
Here at Right Weigh Clinic, we specialize in weight loss through low-carb lifestyle changes with the help of prescription weight loss medications and exercise, all overseen by board-certified bariatric physicians.  Our program focuses on a proper low-carb high protein nutrition plan focused on reducing fat in your body.  By decreasing the fat in your body, you lose inches and pounds, you feel better, and you reduce the risks of weight related health complications.  Our body mass analyzers help track and monitor our patients progress and our medical staff can consult with them and offer the education and support our patients need.  Our highly trained and knowledgeable staff are here to help with your weight loss journey.

Weightloss Medications and Supplements

Depending on each patients individual needs, our physicians can prescribe weight loss medications and/or supplements to help patients overcome their weight loss obstacles.

Weekly Weigh-Ins

Weekly weigh-ins are free to established patients. These body mass analyses measure your overall weight and determines your percentage of body fat, your amount of muscle mass, amount of body water in addition to other important data. Using this information, we can make any necessary adjustments or changes to help maximize your weight loss progress.

Monthly Physician Follow-up Visits

Each month, a follow up appointment is required with the physician so he can monitor the patients progress, refill, make changes to or prescribe new weightloss medications as deemed necessary which will help ensure the patients continued success.

FAQ

Can you prescribe Wegovy or Zepbound?
Yes, a written prescription for those medications is considered. Our knowledgeable doctors will review your medical history, conduct an exam, and then consult with you to determine what is most appropriate for you.
What makes Right Weigh’s patients so successful with weight loss?
At our clinic, we offer countless medical and educational resources, as well as, the accountability that patients need to be successful.
I am on prescription medication, can I enter the program?
Yes, in most cases! While there are prescriptions that conflict with the appetite suppressants, the doctor can go over your options with you.
Do you take insurance?
We do not file insurance. The clinic visits are self-pay. While most insurance companies do not cover preventive care such as ours, we do accept cash, debit/credit cards, CareCredit, and applicable Health Savings Accounts.
Do you offer evening hours?
Yes! We are open until 6:00 pm each Tuesday.
Can I participate in the program if I have high blood pressure?
Yes, we can offer different programs for different medical issues but as long as your medication is controlling your blood pressure you should be able to take the weight loss medications.
What if I can’t come in to weigh each week?
Not a problem! Weighing in each week is not required but is highly recommended.
Do I have to set an appointment to come in each week to weigh?
We do request that patients make appointments if they want to come weigh-in. This ensures we have adequate time for the consultation and minimize your wait time. Appointments are also required when seeing a doctor for a prescription refill.
What is the difference between my scales and the scales at the clinic?
While most home scales only measure a person’s weight, our Inbody 270 Body Mass Analyzers use eight different electrodes that measure your body’s impedance to the frequencies sent out from the scales. Because different frequencies travel through your body at different speeds, the InBody 270 is able to determine information such as total body water, Smooth Muscle Mass, and Percentage of Fat among others. With this information, we can accurately access you weight loss progress.
Do I have to buy your food products?
We do not sell food items. We do have a meal replacement kit (protein powder) through Cornerstone Wellness but it is not required. We encourage our patients to find low-carb, healthy foods at their preferred grocery store. We recommend that our patients follow our meal guidelines and implement them in their own households.
What is the cost of your services?
  1. The New Patient Appointment Package, which includes a body mass analysis, an EKG, labwork and the doctor's exam is $200.  Any medications you are given at the clinic will be at an additional cost.  We can dispense for qualified patients a 30-day supply of Phentermine, which is an appetite suppressant prescription. That cost is $25.
  2. Established Patient (follow-up) appointments to see the doctor is $100. If a refill of the appetite suppressant, Phentermine, is given that cost is $25. There will be additional costs for any other medications given at the clinic.
  3. Weekly weigh-in appointments are free. These are a great resource for accountability and are utilized to track your progress and offer any tips or changes that may benefit you.
  4. Scheduled appointments are required.
Are there any age restrictions or limitations?
While we do assist patients of all ages, patients over the age of 65 or under the age of 15 may see variations in the treatment plan depending on the patient's specific case.
